01 · Diagnose & repair
Technical Triage. Find out what's actually wrong.
For when something isn't working and nobody can say exactly why. I investigate one problem, or one site, and give you a written diagnosis you can act on, with me or anyone else. If you want me to make the repairs, I'll quote them separately.
- Scope
- One problem or one site
- You get
- A written diagnosis
- Price
- Fixed, agreed first
- Obligation
- None after delivery
§ 01 What it covers
Problems Triage is built for.
The common thread: something costs you time or enquiries, and you don't want to commit to a rebuild before you know why.
- 01Enquiries or bookings from the website have dropped off, or stopped.
- 02The site broke after an update and the original developer has moved on.
- 03Pages are slow, especially on phones.
- 04An integration between two tools fails some of the time, and nobody knows why.
- 05You've been quoted for a rebuild and want a second opinion first.
- 06An agency has inherited a client site and needs to know what's under the hood.
§ 02 How it works
A diagnosis you can read in ten minutes and act on the same day.
1
What's wrong
Each issue stated plainly, with how I confirmed it.
2
Why it matters
What it's costing you: lost enquiries, staff time, risk.
3
What to do, in order
A prioritised list with indicative effort, so you can decide what's worth fixing.
4
What's fine
Just as useful. It stops money being spent on things that aren't broken.
§ 03 Price and terms
A fixed fee, agreed before I look.
Describe the problem and I'll reply within one working day with a fixed price for the investigation. No hourly meter running while I dig.
- The diagnosis is yours, whoever does the fixing.
- If you ask me to do the fixes, the Triage fee comes off the quote.
- If I can't get the access I need, you aren't charged.
- Small problems sometimes get fixed during Triage. I'll tell you before I do.
Questions
How long does it take?
It depends on the problem, so I'll give you a delivery date along with the fixed price, before you agree to anything.
What access do you need?
Usually admin access to the website or CMS, and sometimes DNS or hosting. I'll list exactly what's needed up front. Revoke it all when we're done.
Do I have to use you for the fixes?
No. The diagnosis is written so another developer, or your own team, can work from it.
What if the problem turns out to be bigger than expected?
I'll stop and tell you before going past the agreed scope. The fixed price doesn't change unless you ask me to look at more.
