Privacy statement
Last updated: 11 July 2026
Lucence is an independent digital practice based in New Zealand, operated under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This page explains what information this website handles, and why. The short version: the site collects very little, sells nothing, and the startup tools keep your numbers in your own browser.
If you're just visiting
The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data — your IP address and request logs — to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, rough location, device type). Google sets cookies for this and handles that data under Google's own privacy policy. We don't run any other trackers, and no advertising networks are involved.
If you contact us
The contact form stores what you submit — your name, email, company, the service you're asking about, and your message — securely with Cloudflare, so we can reply. Nothing else is done with it: no marketing lists, no sharing, no automated emails. It's kept only as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry, and deleted on request.
If you use the startup tools
The calculators run entirely in your browser. Every number you enter, and every result, is saved to your browser's local storage on your device — none of it is sent to a server as you work. Two optional features send data only when you explicitly use them:
- Ask Lucence (AI assistant). Clicking an assistant action sends that tool's inputs and results to our server, where Cloudflare Workers AI (a Cloudflare-hosted model) generates the response. These requests aren't stored — the only trace is a short-lived rate-limit counter tied to your IP address, which expires automatically within about two minutes.
- Email me my summary. If you ask for an emailed summary, we store your email address, your consent, which tools you completed, and your chosen currency — and nothing else. Your inputs and results are never included.
Both features are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks browser signals to confirm you're a person and not a bot.
Where your data lives
Two providers process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting, storage, bot protection, and the AI assistant) and Google (analytics). We don't sell data or share it with anyone else.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@lucence.co and we'll sort it out.
Changes
If our data practices change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top will tell you when.
